Baahubali distributor buys Jersey rights

Natural Star Nani and Shraddha Srinath starrer sport based drama Jersey, which was decent hit at the box office, is going to Bollywood. According to the latest update, Karan Johar has bought the Hindi remake rights of Jersey. It is known news that earlier Karan Johar had bought the distribution rights of SS Rajamouli’ Baahubali in North India and now he has bought the Hindi remake rights of Jersey.

There is a growing demand for Telugu films to be remade in Hindi. Take for instance, the recently released Kabir Singh starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani, a remake of Telugu blockbuster movie Arjun Reddy that is doing good business at the box-office despite the critics panning it and inching towards to join the club of Rs 100 Cr marks.

Nani starrer Jersey, directed by Gowtham Tinnanuri, is all set to be remade in Hindi by popular director and producer Karan Johar, although it is still unclear who will play the lead roles.

The sources reveal that Gowtham Tinnanuri, will direct the Hindi version of Jersey. Both the Hindi and Telugu producers signed an agreement on Sunday and confirmed the news that Gowtham Tinnanuri will helm Jersey in Bollywood too. According to the latest buzz the makers are planning to rope Shahid Kapoor to play the lead role in Jersey remake, the production venture of Karan Johar.
