Today morning, Nandamuri Balakrishna  visited NTR Ghat and  paid tribute to his late father and the Chief Minister of United Andhra Pradesh Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao. Balayya paid his respects to his beloved father.  He offered flowers and prayed in front of NTR’s memorial.

The legendary movie star and path-breaking politician Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao served three tumultuous terms as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.  After the  completion of his education,  Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao joined Madras Service Commission in  the year 1947 as a sub registrar, a much coveted job that he quit within 3 weeks to devote himself to acting.

Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao – popularly known as NTR was one among the  very few Indian film stars who have built populist political careers out of soaring popularity gained from cinema.   Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao forayed into politics and established Telugu Desam Party – TDP in 1982.

Nandamuri Balakrishna walked in to the venue amid chants of ‘Jai Balayya! Jai NTR’  and paid his respects at the  NTR ghat on his father’s death anniversary.  He also interacted with the media and said, “Today marks my father NTR’s vardhanti. Every year family members pay their respects to him here. May father’ life is inspirational for everyone and his name lends me strength even today.”
