Due to the increasing positivity rate of Covid-19, the BCCI is in a daze to conduct IPL whether in South Africa or Sri Lanka, as it puts on paper its pandemic-time plan B.

If the pandemic would not show it’s depletion even by the month of April, then the Indian board will schedule the IPL season 15 to be held in South Africa, where the T20 league was organised in 2009.

Discussions were held about the possible shifting of IPL, during the declaration of the deferral of Ranji Trophy tournament.

The BCCI official said that they couldn’t be supporting by UAE all the time, so they decided to find more choices, South Africa’s time difference also convenient for the players.

If the broadcasters stick to their preferred 7.30 pm IST prime start, the game’s first ball in South Africa would be bowled at 4pm. Players have grumbled of IPL games over the years, finishing well past midnight.

The victory of the progressive series and also India tour before that, have made the Indian board to choose South Africa. The BCCI officials have mentioned that the walking tracks and a pond on the property in Johannesburg were also favourable for the players, where the second Test had taken place.

Now, the BCCI has to declare its decision, if it organise IPL in Sri Lanka.
