We have already reported that Baahubali and Rudhramadevi fame Anushka Shetty starrer thriller drama ‘Bhaagamathie’ is going to Bollywood. Bhumi Pednekar, who is popular for movies such as ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’, is on the board to play the female lead in the Hindi remake of Telugu film ‘Bhaagamathie’. G Ashok, who directed  the original version of ‘Bhaagamathie’,  will direct the movie in Hindi as well. Today the makers of its Hindi remake have officially announced its title. The Hindi remake of Ashok G’ directorial venture ‘Bhaagamathie’ has been titled ‘Durgavati’.

 G Ashok took to social media to announce the project ‘Durgavati’ and also shared a picture of Bhumi Pednekar, who is playing the titular role. Bhumi Pednekar will be seen reprising the role of Anushka Shetty.

Bhumi Pednekar is seen holding a placard that reads Hero and interestingly, Akshay Kumar is also seen in the picture, holding a card that reads Presenter. Further details of the rest of the cast and crew will be announced very soon.

Vikram Malhotra of Abundantia Entertainment has acquired the remake rights of Bhaagamathie, which was a solo-lead heroine film that became a blockbuster. The shooting of Bhumi Pednekar  stareer ‘Durgavati’,  the remake of ‘Bhaagamathie’, which is expected to be a scary thriller, will commence from mid of January 2020.

In the past, Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar have worked together in ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’. The movie had garnered accolades from both the audience and the critics alike. On the workside, Bhumi Pednekar is currently waiting for the release of her upcoming Hindi film ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’ which has Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday in the lead roles. Pati Patni Aur Who will be arrived at the theaters on 6th December 2019.

Bhumi Pednekar will also be seen in Vicky Kaushal starrer ‘Bhoot part one: The Haunted Ship’.
