BJP lawmaker Kuldeep Singh Sengar from Bangarmau in Unnao, was arrested by the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) in month of April, amid anger and allegations that the state government was trying to shield him. The CBI on Wednesday filed charges against him for raping a minor girl.
On the other side, BJP Lawmaker Kuldeep Singh Sengar is saying, “I’ll consult my lawyers on CBI report and will fight for justice. I will get justice from the court. All the allegations (rape) on me are false.”
BJP’s state spokesperson Chandra Mohan said, “The BJP is looking at this matter. A decision will be taken very soon. There is a process, which is on .” He further said that it’s ‘too early to take a call’ on the demand for the MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar’s expulsion as CBI filed the charge sheet only on Wednesday.
Kuldeep Singh Sengar from India’s ruling party (BJP) was charged in connection with the rape of a 16-year-old in at his residence at Makhi village (Unnao) on 4th June last year that has embarrassed India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government amid a spate of sexual violence that has stirred street protests.
Over 100 rapes are reported in India every day but Uttar Pradesh BJP lawmaker Kuldeep Singh Sengar’s rape case has strong political overtones with critics accusing Narendra Modi’s BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) in Uttar Pradesh state of hindering judicial action against veteran legislator.
The teen alleges that she was raped by BJP lawmaker Kuldeep Singh Sengar when she went to his home with a relative seeking a job last year. Her father suffered severe injuries after being beaten up by BJP lawmaker Kuldeep Singh Sengar’s supporter. After the death of her father, the teen also attempted to set herself on fire outside the residence of the UP Chief Minister, but was stopped by passersby.
