Canada bans Tik Tok

After India, another country has banned Tik Tok. Canada has announced that it is banning the use of this app Tik Tok from all government-issued mobile devices, reflecting widening worries from the western officials over Chinese-owned video sharing app.

This decision has been taken for security reasons.  The latest ban has given a big shock to Tik Tok. Tik Tok is the parent company of China-based Byte Dance Company. As the company is run under the supervision of the Chinese government and the company has control over the users’ data, concerns have arisen in many countries around the world about Tik Tok.

In 2020, India gave a shock for the first time by banning Tik Tok.  It was banned at a time when it was attracting a lot of users. After the Galwan Valley attack, India responded strongly by banning hundreds of Chinese apps, including Tik Tok. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that the government prioritizes the online safety of Canadians. He said that the ban on Tik Tok is one of the measures taken in this direction.
