If ongoing buzz in media and film industry is to be believed, Tamil actor Jiiva will be seen playing the role of star cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth in upcoming Bollywood movie 83. Earlier it was heard that Vijay Deverakonda who was planning to expand his market in Hindi Film Industry, will play the cameo in 83 a biopic on legendary Indian cricketer Kapil Dev. But now it has been confirmed that Vijay Deverakonda is the not the part of this upcoming prestigious biopic. He has been replaced by Chennai born actor Jiiva.
The latest report reveal that Tamil hero Jiiva, popular among Telugu audiences for the blockbuster thriller Rangam, has been roped in to 83, to the reprise the role of former Team India’s star cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth. Jiiva has been undergoing training under Srikkanth himself for the last couple of months.
While various names have cropped up to play former India cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth in 83, but the actor Jiiva has been finalised to play the part. It is heard that Jiiva has been allocating two hours every day for practice sessions.
Ranveer Singh is on the board to play the role of former Indian national cricket team captain Kapil Dev in 83. The movie is expected to hit the theaters by April 2020. Kabir Khan will helm this upcoming film and NTR’s co-producer Vishnu Induri is producing it in association with Reliance Entertainment and Phantom Films.
Director Kabir Khan will present the story of skipper Kapil Dev and the Indian national cricket team when they left a whole country energised after winning the 1983 World Cup.
Vijay Deverakonda has already delivered with his speechless performances in Telugu movies like Arjun Reddy, Geetha Govindham and Taxiwaala. Currently the actor is busy in his upcoming film Dear Comrade, in which he will be seen sharing the screen space with his Geetha Govindam co-star Rashmika Mandanna.
