On 25th November, Andhra Pradesh Assembly passed the online ticketing bill. As per the bill, no hike in ticket rates, no extra or befits shows. The AP government said the regulation of cinema ticket pricing would help to check exploitation of movie lovers. This decision by the Andhra Pradesh government was not well-received by the biggies of the industry. Telugu Megastar Chiranjeevi has appealed to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to consider hiking ticket prices in the interest of filmmakers.
Acharya and Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy fame Chiranjeevi expressed his happiness over the online ticketing bill to bring transparency, and requested to fix the ticket prices by comparing the rates in all states across the nation.
Megastar Chiranjeevi said, “Introducing online ticketing Bill is something to be happy about, but at the same time, for the survival of the cinema halls and for the many families who depend upon the films alone for their survival, in their interest, these reduced online ticketing rates should be time to time fixed appropriately much like the rest of the country, for benefit and welfare of the film industry.”
Chiranjeevi added, “While governments across the country take the same GST taxes, it makes sense to have the same flexibility in ticket prices. Please reconsider this issue. Tollywood will be able to survive only when there is that encouragement.”
