The lockdown is likely to be extended for a third time beyond 17th May but more restrictions may be eased in areas that are not severely affected.  India’ Coronavirus count went past 70,000 on Monday, just two days after crossing the 60,000 milestone.  Currently the total Covid-19 cases count is 70,756 in India. The state Maharashtra continued to report above 1,000 new cases for the 6th day running while the pandemic spread alarmingly in Tamil Nadu, which added its highest single day number of cases at 798.

Just the four states — Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Delhi,  have 66 percent of India’ Covid-19 cases. The count of fresh coronavirus cases remained high on Monday in Gujarat – 347 and Delhi-310 , but both these states Gujarat and Delhi have reported higher numbers in the past few days. Tamil Nadu witnessed the biggest surge in COVID-19 count in last 24 hours.

Andhra Pradesh State has reported 33 new Coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. The total cases count in Andhra Pradesh is 2,051. 10,730 samples were tested and 58 people were discharged yesterday.  The active Coronavirus cases count in Andhra Pradesh is 949 while a total of 1056 people have been discharged. 46 people died of the  Coronavirus.

Telangana State has reported 79 new cases yesterday.
