The first coronavirus case has been reported in Vijayawada as a 24 years old man tested positive for the novel virus Covid-19 after returning from Paris.
The man who tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh. The official said that this the first case reported in Vijayawada.The man flew from Paris to Delhi on 15th March and then to Hyderabad and Vijayawada on 17th March.
The person was admitted to a government hospital in Vijayawada on 20th March after showing symptoms and soon after, he was tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday. Currently he is in the isolation ward of hospital.
The Special Chief Secretary of Medical Department, Mr K Jawahar Reddy said, “The person who tested positive is from Nellore and he had recently came back from abroad. He along with his family members were quarantined.”
Jawahar Reddy said added, “A full fledged testing facility is being set up at Tirupati whereas a screening unit is in place at Vijayawada. Quarantine wards will also be made available at Vizag.”
According to the latest report, total of 564 people, who had travelled abroad, were kept in isolation ward of hospital and put under quarantine, 331 of them are still under observation whereas 12 of them are admitted in hospitals.
