After a long gap in the terrific combination of Dhanush-Selva Raghavan, the movie “Nene Vasthunna” is released. This Tamil movie has been released in Telugu dubbed form. The trailer released but the songs did not elevate the genre of the film, the film crew also kept it a secret. And let’s see how far it works..!!

Story : Twins Kadhir & Prabhu (Dhanush) are separated at an early age. While Prabhu lives a fun life with his family, Kadhir behaves strangely due to psychological issues. These two unexpectedly meet again. The main reason for that is Prabhu’s daughter Satya. How was Prabhu’s original daughter Satya and Kadhir affected? What changes in Prabhu’s life because of that? is the “Nene Vasthunna” storyline.

Performance of the actors: In recent times we hear the words that Dhanush has got into a certain role and has acted brilliantly in every movie of his. “Nene Vasthunna” is no exception.. Dhanush has played two different roles as a responsible father and a psycho in this film. Especially Dhanush’s performance in the role of Psycho, the way his characterization is elevated through body language is very good.

Although Selvaraghavan’s role is small, it is effective. Ellie Avaram and Induja have added value to the movie. More than all of them, the child who played the daughter Satya was admired. In some scenes it was scary.

Technicolor Performance: Yuvan is credited with elevating a psychological thriller with his background score, and scaring the audience. Even the smallest emotions & expressions of the actors have been elevated by Yuvan superbly. Om Prakash’s cinematography also helped a lot. It has to be said that the elevations that turn the story are also surprisingly elevated with camera angles & lighting without any rush.

Selvaraghavan is one of the few filmmakers who can drive a story with characterizations. He also followed the same path in “Nene Vasthunna”. He wanted to dazzle the audience by adding psycho drama to a horror thriller. Even he was successful till the first half. I don’t know if he didn’t get time to write the story of the second half or if Dhanush didn’t get dates, but he wrapped the second half.

Hence the impact created by the first half was lost in the second half. And the audience can guess what the climax will be, which is also a big minus point for this type of thriller. Had the second half been taken care of, this film would have been another milestone in Selva Raghavan’s career.

Analysis: Irrespective of the story, “Nene Vasthunna” is a film worth watching in theaters only for those who can enjoy Dhanush’s acting, Baby Satya’s characterization and Yuvan’s music. Even if Selva Raghavan had taken minimal care in the second half, the movie would have been a super hit. But.. Now it remains average.
