Nishikant Kamat, who is popular for his directorial ventures –  Drishyam, Madaari, Rocky Handsome and more,  passed away today on 17th August at a city hospital in Hyderabad at the age of 50.   He was suffering from serious health issues and was admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad.

The director had been diagnosed with Chronic Liver Disease and other secondary infections. Riteish Deshmukh confirmed the same on Twitter as he said “I will miss you my friend. Nishikant Kamat Rest In Peace.” Previously, Riteish Deshmukh had shared that the filmmaker was fighting for life and had prayed for his recovery.

Nishikant Kamat was popular for  Ajay Devgn and Tabu starrer ‘Drishyam’, and Irrfan Khan’s ‘Madaari’. He has also worked with John Abraham in two films, ‘Force’ and ‘Rocky Handsome’. Kamat ventured into the field of direction in the Hindi film industry with the movie Mumbai Meri Jaan starring Irrfan in 2008.

Kamat also essayed the negative role in John Abraham starrer movie Rocky Handsome in 2016, which he also directed. His biggest hit was Drishyam, which was a remake of the Malayalam movie of the same name. He was also involved as a creative producer on the ZEE5 web series The Final Call.
