The drug case had thrown up the names of several Tollywood celebrities, but the excise department probe didn’t name any of them in the charge sheet due to lack of evidence. Rana Daggubati had not appeared before the excise special investigation team in 2017. But on Wednesday, he is going to appear for the questioning in connection with a money laundering probe linked to the drug case. On Tuesday, ED questioned Tollywood actor Nandu, key accused Calvin Mascarenhas, and two others in connection with a money laundering probe linked to a four years old drug case.
Telugu actor Nandu was quizzed for more than eight hours. He was asked about his financial transactions and bank details. Nandu was the fourth personality from Tollywood questioned by the Enforcement Directorate. Director Puri Jagannadh and actors Charmee Kaur and Rakul Preet Singh were questioned since 31st August.
Actor Nandu was summoned by ED for questioning on 20th September. It was not clear if the ED officials summoned him early at his request or wanted to question him before grilling others.
Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja, Mumaith Khan, Navdeep, Tanish and Ravi Teja‘ driver Srinivas have also been summoned in connection to the drugs racket which was busted with the arrest of drug peddlers in the year 2017.
