Finally, the Election Commission of India on Thursaday, has given its nod for the name change of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), which was announced earlier by the chief minister of Telangana, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, who had decided to enter national politics. Today after a formation ceremony, CM KCR will hoist the flag of the BRS at Telangana Bhavan.

During the propitious time at 1.20 pm today, Rao will sign on the officially approved letter that was rendered by the Election Commission and later, the EC will issue a notification regarding it.

The EC cited a request from the party to grant its name change, in a letter to the chief minister, saying, “I am directed to refer to your letter issued on the 5th of December on the subject cited and to say that the commission has accepted your request for change in the name of your party from TRS to BRS. The necessary notification in this regard will be issued in due course.”

As the party has only changed its name and BRS is not a new party, the party’s symbol car and colour pink will not be changed. But one thing to be noted is, there  will be a change in party’s flag, on which the Telangana map will be replaced by the India map. The BRS flag hoisting ceremony in Telangana Bhavan will be graced by the state party executive committee members, party district presidents, ministers, MLAs, MPs and all other important dignitaries.

TRS leaders and workers celebrated in all districts by lighting crackers and distributing sweets, immediately after getting heard of EC’s approval on the formation of BRS. Today, the TRS’s 21-year journey is going to end after KCR’s signature on the BRS approval document. Now, it remains to be seen what KCR has in his store, after foraying into national politics.
