Biennial election for the 2 MLC seats in Telangana will be held on 13th March On Thursday, the Election Commission of India released the schedule in this regard. Two MLC seats — Mahbubnagar-Rangareddy-Hyderabad teachers constituency and Hyderabad local body seat, will fall vacant in March and May respectively.
The notification will be issued on 16th February and the last date for filing nominations is 23rd February. The scrutiny will take place on 24th February and the last date for the withdrawal of nominations is 27th February. The elections will be held on 13th March and the counting of votes will be taken place on 16th March.
KCR is likely to hold a meeting after the Assembly session to finalize the candidate. Several teacher union leaders who are aspiring for seat are of the view that Janardhan Reddy served 2 terms as MLC and one of them should get a chance this time. Congress has almost confirmed the candidature of the Telangana PRTU founder president Galireddy Harshavardhan Reddy for the seat. BJP has already announced the nomination of AVN Reddy for teacher’s constituency.
Progressive Teacher Union is likely to finalize the name of Chennakeshava Reddy and United Teacher Federation may filed Manik Reddy.
