Malayalam star Mammootty is playing the role of YSR in Yatra. The film will be a tribute to YSR’s iconic Padayatra that made him the Messiah of the masses and eventually the chief minister in 2004.
Yatra is directed by Mahi V Raghav, and is jointly produced by Vijay Chilla and Shashi Devireddy. The movie is going to be released just before the Andhra Pradesh assembly elections.
According to the latest buzz in the film industry, the makers are going to organize the pre release event and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, YSR’s son and Andhra Pradesh’s opposition leader, is going to attend the event as Chief Guest.
Apart from Mammootty, Yatra has other stars like Jagapathi Babu, Ashtita Vemuunganti Babu, Suhasini Maniratnam, Rao Ramesh, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Posani Krishna Murali, Vinod Kumar and others in supporting roles.
Posani Krishna Murali will be seen playing the role of YSR’s personal assistant Sureedu, Sachin Khedekar is essaying the role of former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N. Bhaskara Rao, whereas Rao Ramesh will be seen as K. V. P. Ramachandra Rao, a close associate of Reddy. Suhasini Maniratnam as Sabitha Indra Reddy, a sister figure to Reddy and the first woman Home Minister in Andhra Pradesh. YSR, who started his 1500-kilometere long walk from Chevella in Ranga Reddy district, had admitted several times that Sabitha Indra Reddy was like his own sister and even began his walk only after she tied a rakhi to him.
Anasuya Bharadwaj is essaying a politician from Kurnool district, Jagapathi Babu will be seen as Y. S. Raja Reddy, YSR’s father.
