The Padma awardee and the legendary playback singer S P Balasubrahmanyam,  popular as SPB or Balu in the film world and who lent his voice over 40,000 songs in 16 languages over a period of 5 decades, died on  yesterday afternoon. His son SP Charan has confirmed the news of his dad’ death.  SP Charan said that his father Balasubrahmanyam  died at 1.04  pm and he thanked the hospital officials for the treatment.

After hearing this news, number of people gathered at  SP Balu’ residence to have a last glimpse of  him and pay their respects.  The last rites of legendary playback singer SP Balu will be performed at his farmhouse,  Thamaraipakkiam in Thiruvallur district  today at 10:30 am this morning.

The playback singer will be laid to rest with full state honor. The reports are coming that Thiruvallur District Collector said that  the fans  would not be allowed to attend S P Balasubrahmanyam’ funeral and also  appealed to the fans to cooperate due to the restrictions amid the pandemic.

The sources revealed that  barricades have been erected 2 Km from the farmhouse to prevent the crowds from entering the farmhouse premises of SP Balu. The singer’ mortal remains have been taken to his farmhouse from his Chennai residence last night.
