Kangana Ranaut is currently working on her upcoming movie Emergency. She is not only directing the movie, but also acting as the former prime minister of India, Indira Gandhi. The film’s shooting commenced a couple of months ago and the makers have been revealing the characters one by one.
So far, we saw Kangana as Indira Gandhi, Anupam Kher as Jayaprakash Narayan, Shreyas Talpade as Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Mahima Chaudhary as Pupul Jayakar, Milind Soman as Sam Manekshaw, Vishak Nair as Sanjay Gandhi, and now, Satish Kaushik has joined the cast and he is roped in to play the character of renowned politician Jagjivan Ram.
Taking to Twitter, the makers have revealed the first look of Satish Kaushik from the movie. They tweeted, “Presenting the supremely talented Satishkaushik as Jagjivan Ram in Kangana Ranaut directorial Emergency. The man who was the epitome of justice who worked to uplift the lives of depressed classes.”
Speaking about Satish Kaushik joining the film’s cast, Kangana says, “Jagjivan Ram was a very popular leader. One of the most loved and revered leaders of his times. When Mrs Gandhi refused his request for a relaxing Emergency, he quit Congress and there were grave consequences for her. That was his relevance. I needed somebody for this role who has his strength, his wit and his sarcasm. Satish ji was an obvious choice for this role. I am looking forward to my scenes with him as an actor. They are some of the most engaging, entertaining and vigorous scenes in the movie.”
