Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka  and Chandigarh detected one case each of the Omicron variant of  /Covid-19 on Sunday. Our country India’s Omicron tally has now risen to 36.  According to the latest report,  a 34 years old  foreign traveler, who came from Ireland to Visakhapatnam, was found positive of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.   The foreign traveler does not have any symptoms. and tested negative for the coronavirus in an RT-PCR test  that was conducted on Saturday.

Andhra Pradesh’s first Omicron case, not come directly from Ireland to Visakhapatnam. He first landed at Mumbai airport, was tested there and found to be Covid-19 negative. He was allowed to travel and came to Visakhapatnam on 27th November. Another RT-PCR test was conducted in Vizianagaram in AP and he tested positive for Omicron.

In Karnataka, a third Omicron case was detected in a South Africa returnee on Sunday.  The guy  is being treated at a government hospital.  Chandigarh also detected the first case of the Omicron variant on Saturday night.  The 20 years old person  who came from Italy on 22nd November, was found positive. The youngster tested positive for Covid-19 on 1st December and is asymptomatic and fully vaccinated.

Maharashtra has reported the highest number of Omicron cases at 17. Delhi, Gujarat and  Rajasthan have also reported cases of the new variant.
