Popular folk and revolutionary singer from UttarAndhra, Vangapandu Prasad Rao passed away. Vangapandu Prasad Rao breathed his last in the wee hours of Tuesday due to a heart attack. He was 77.

Vangapandu Prasad Rao had been ill for the past few days and  he took his last breath at his residence in Pedabondapalli, Parvathipuram, Vizianagaram district on Tuesday morning. He was the founder of Jananatya Mandali in 1972. He inspired the villagers as well as the tribals with his folk songs. He was born in 1943 in Parvathipuram village of Pedabindapalli of Vizianagaram district.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has expressed grief over the death of North Andhra folk singer Vangapandu Prasada Rao. The news that Vangapandu Prasada Rao is no more hurts a lot.

Vangapandu Prasada Rao will remain in the history of Telugu literature and art expressed his deepest condolences to his family on the death of Vangapandu.

Deputy CM Pushpasreevani also mourned the death of folk artist Vangapandu Prasada Rao. DY CM Pushpasreevani said, “Vangapandu is a great artist who was moved with the plight of the people of North Andhra for 5 decades with his songs; his death was a great loss to the people of North Andhra.”
