With the lock down being imposed from the past 40 days, people are confined to home and have less options to be entertained. With the first and second phases of lock down people are mainly interested to know the news and hence news channels used to top the ratings.
ETV which telecast 9 PM news has topped the list in BARC ratings for the first three weeks of lock down. Now with lock down getting extended, audience are getting rest less and hence are opting towards entertainment.
All the Entertainment channels which no serials to be telecasted are now playing movies. These are getting huge TRPs now. Especially Gemini TV has cashed in the craze for movies. Like Maharshi, Whistle, Kausalya Krishnamurthy and ever green hits like Raja, Tagore Gemini TV has topped the list this week.
ETV has to settle in the third spot. With lock down getting extended till May 17th we can see the same trend for the next two weeks as well. On the other hand, OTT platforms are seeing spike in new subscribers as well. OTT platforms like Prime, Netflix are getting benefitted with spike in subscribers. A lot of data is being utilized as well.
