Number of Celebrities from the film industries like Megastar Chiranjeevi, versatile actor Kamal Hassan, Suriya, Priyanka Chopra, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Salman Khan have pledged to either donate their organs or their eyes for those in need. Following in the footsteps of these actors, many common people too have taken the bigger step and signed up for organ’ donation as well. Now the name of one couple has also been added in this list and they are none other than Genelia and Riteish Deshmukh. They made a pledge on National Doctor’s Day.
Actress Genelia Deshmukh and Riteish Deshmukh pledged to donate their body organs. 1st July is celebrated as Doctor’s Day to honour them for their sacrifices and relentless services. On this occasion, Genelia Deshmukh took to her Instagram and posted a video of her and husband Riteish Deshmukh. The couple also requested their fans to pledge to donate organs.
The Deshmukh couple said, “Yes, We pledge to donate our organs and for us there is no better gift then the gift of life.”
National Doctor’ Day is celebrated in the memory of Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy, the former CM of West Bengal and a well known physician. He was honored with the highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna, in 1961.
