A Boat carrying approximately 60 passengers capsized in Godavari River. Out of 60 passengers, 27 have been rescued and 25 are still missing.

 Out of 27 passengers rescued, 16 are given first aid treatment at Area Hospital, Rampachodavaram and shifted to GGH Rajahmundry for further treatment.  According to the police report, among the missing were four persons from a family in Visakhapatnam,

AP tourism Minister  M Srinivasa Rao said that the boat did not have the permission from the tourism department to ply. However, the boat drivers told the Devipatnam police that they had a license from the Kakinada port.

 The Boat services in the Godavari have suspended a few weeks ago due to the floods.

AP Government is taking the help of the Uttarakhand government to use the service of ‘Side Scan Sonar’ and ‘Underwater Drone’ to trace the missing boat.

AP CM has taken this issue very seriously. He asked the officials to prepare a report with the help of experts on boat operations.

Telangana Chief Minister KCR has also announced Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia for the kin of deceased in Andhra Pradesh boat mishap.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Andhra Pradesh chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy and others condoled the demise of people in the tragic boat incident.
