Kalki Koechlin is going to become a mother very soon. Ahead of her latest maternity photoshoot, Kalki Koechlin attended an interview and opened up about the dark side of the film industry. The actress talked about her casting couch experience and how she was horribly called out for her performance in Dev D. Kalki Koechlin revealed that when her debut was released she read somewhere that she was referred to as ‘Russian prostitute’ in an article. Gully Boy actress Kalki said, “I’m not Russian.”
The actress also revealed how she could not get work for nine months after Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starrer, romantic drama Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, because she refused an indirect proposition by a producer.
Kalki Koechlin said that a film producer blacklisted her because she refused to go out with him. Ribbon fame actress added, “It was not s*xual proposition directly but indirectly. A film producer wanted to go out on a date with me. But when I said no to him, he never got back and the film didn’t happen.”
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’s fame Kalki Koechlin further added, “I have suffered s*xual abuse in the past and I talked about this abuse first to my therapist and to my then partner. Later, during a conference which was organized by Rahul Bose, I discussed it.”
Her popular movies are Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, The Girl in Yellow Boots, Margarita With A Straw and Gully Boy.
Kalki Koechlin also said that such incidents (Casting Couch) aren’t specific to Bollywood, but also exist in Hollywood. Gully Boy girl continued, “When I went to Hollywood, there was this casting agent who wanted to look at the wrinkles on my face near my eyes.”
Kalki Koechlin made her Tamil debut with Thala Ajith starrer movie Nerkonda Paarvai, the remake of Bollywood movie The Pink. On the work front, she is busy with her upcoming film Scholarship.
