Earlier there was a strong buzz in the film industry that Rudhramadevi fame Gunsekhar is planning to make a movie Hiranyakasyapa, with Rana Daggubati but the passionate director has announced a new film, titled Shaakuntalam. Finally Gunasekhar is gearing up to direct Shakuntalam, a woman centric movie. The sources close to the directior revealed that the upcoming film Shakuntalam is a historical costume drama that is rumored to be inspired by the Mahabharatam.
Gunasekhar’ directional venture is all about the story of Shakuntala, daughter of the sage Vishwamitra and Menaka, an apasara. The movie is based upon a love affair, secret marriage, separation of imprecation and reunion of love of Dushyanta and Shakuntala. Shakuntala was the mother of Emperor Bharata.
The reports are coming that Gunasekhar approached Pooja Hegde to play the female lead in Shakuntalam, but things did not work out as DJ girl is not interests to play the role of mother on the screen. So the makers are planning to rope an establish actress, who can do justice to the character.”
Shakuntalam will be bankrolled by Neelima Guna under Gunaa Teamworks banner whereas it will have the music by Mani Sharma.
The sources added that Gunasekhar will start the work for Rana Daggubati’ Hiranyakasyapa after wrapping up the shoot of Shaakuntalam.
