Harvey Weinstein is expected to surrender to the police in Manhattan on Friday, seven months after numerous allegations of his predatory behavior ignited #MeToo movement.
Harvey Weinstein, the co-founder of Miramax studio and the Weinstein Company, has been accused by more than 80 women of misconduct that includes assault and sexual harassment including rape. But the Hollywood film producer has denied any wrongdoing.
Harvey Weinstein will be charged in connection with allegations made by once-aspiring actress, who said the producer Weinstein forced her to do oral s*x on him in 2004. Lucia Evans has alleged that the producer assaulted her during a meeting at his Miramax office in 2004.
The Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein is also under investigation for alleged s*x crimes in Los Angeles and London. The sources say that Federal prosecutors in New York have started a s*x-crimes investigation involving Weinstein.
Italian actress and director Asia Argento who has accused Weinstein of rape, on Thursday shared an article about Weinstein turning himself in.
Weinstein has been accused of sexually harassing and assaulting actresses and employees of his former namesake company. His lawyer, Mr. Benjamin Brafman, has declined to comment. In the past, he has said the producer denies any allegations of “nonconsensual s*x.”
The law enforcement officials said, “Weinstein has agreed to surrender himself at a police precinct Friday morning and will be arrested on a criminal complaint. He will be charged with first-degree rape and third-degree rape in one case, and with first-degree criminal s*x act in another.”
On Thursday, Rehal’s attorney, Genie Harrison, issued a statement celebrating Weinstein’s imminent arrest. She said, “Harvey Weinstein should have been arrested and prosecuted a long time ago for his prolific criminal sexual acts.His #TimesUp because so many fierce women have come forward and said #MeToo. We anxiously await the video of his surrender.”
