Yesterday, Just an hour after the trust vote in Karnataka assembly, Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar resigned for his position. Ramesh attended the funeral of his well-wisher and mentor Jaipal Reddy in Hyderabad who passed away recently. BJP’s BS Yediyurappa had survived the trust vote and proved his worthiness. As soon as BJP showcased its majority, Ramesh stepped out of his position and felt liberated.

Here are the words of KR Ramesh Kumar, post his resignation, “I felt that I should not sit there even a moment longer. That is why I completed my moral obligation to the Constitution, put in my papers, thanked the assembly and came out”

He emotionally added saying, the resignation was the befitting tribute to Jaipal Reddy. He said he resigned so he could get liberated and get free from all the shackles.

Since a week speaker was in pressure from the two pivotal parties. Ever since the JD-S, Congress government lost its support by 16 rebel MLA’s, there was a heavy air of inconsistency in the Karnataka government which led to the several twists.

On speaking to the death of Jaipal reddy. Ramesh expressed his grief as, “It is all not to our tune and taste but we have got to survive, fight it back, we will fight it.” He continued saying Jaipal has left us physically but morally he is with him which makes him even more courageous now to face this onslaught.
