India reaches 200 cr mark in Covid vaccine administration

Covid-19 vaccination plays a key role in the prevention of the deadly CoronaVirus in people. India commenced its countrywide vaccination drive on January 16, 2021. The country reached the milestone of 100 crore vaccine administrations, within 277 days of its beginning.

Now according to the Health Ministry, India has joined the 200 crore club of Covid-19 vaccine doses in recent times. The health ministry said 98% of adults have received at least a single dose, while the fully vaccinated population is at 90%.

Across the world, Covid vaccine was received by 62.1% of the population. On the occasion, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi tweeted, “India creates history again! Congrats to all Indians on crossing the special figure of 200 crore vaccine doses. Proud of those who contributed to making India’s vaccination drive unparalleled in scale and speed. This has strengthened the global fight against COVID-19.”

The health ministry also said that the present supply chain for storage and transport of Covid vaccines were clouted and reinforced and credible keeping track of vaccine distribution and reliable availability and structured usage of vaccines and syringes were certified eternally. Currently, free precaution doses for 18-59 age groups are available at all government centres in the country for 75 days.
