During the 1st One Day International held at Birmingham, between India and England, Jasprit Bumrah took six for 19 as England were bowled out for 110 inside 26 overs before Rohit Sharma’s 58-ball 76 hauled in the target with hard efficiency.

Across an opening five-over spell that ripped out 4 wickets for just 9 runs, Bumrah was unable to attempt. As India’s premier quicks made a mess of England’s scoreboard, Mohammad Shami was equally dangerous.

England captain Jos Buttler said, “It’s obviously a disappointing day, it’s a tough loss to take. If I look back over the past sort of five, six years, our batting has been our super strength in this form of the game. We’ll stick to what we know and there’s huge trust in that dressing room. There Are some brilliant players there.”

Once Sharma got going, Shikhar Dhawan – 31 off 5 balls played the anchor role. Conceding 85 and 10.36 runs per over individually, Overton and Carse came in for particular punishment, but no England bowler threatened to take a wicket.
