An Indian who was staying in Australia on a boarding visa was shot dead by the police there. He has been identified as Mohammad Rahmatullah Syed Ahmed (32) from Tamil Nadu. Apart from stabbing a cleaner at the Sydney railway station, he was allegedly shot dead after threatening the police. The Indian Embassy in Australia has responded to this incident. The incident is extremely disturbing and unfortunate it has been said that the matter will be taken to the attention of the police officials along with the foreign affairs and commerce department.

 The sources revealed that Ahmed attacked a cleaner (28) with a knife at Sydney Auburn station. He then reached the Auburn Police Station. At that time, he got into a fight with two policemen who were leaving the police station. Then he tried to attack. The police officer then fired three rounds at Ahmed. Two of them hit Ahmed in the chest.  Paramedics treated Ahmed at the scene and rushed him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Rahmatullah Syed Ahmed had 5 previous interactions with the police, all of which were non-criminal and COVID-19 related. Meanwhile, New South Wales Police Assistant Commissioner Stuart Smith stated that there was no other option but to shoot Ahmed. On the other hand, police said that the health of the cleaner, who was attacked by Ahmed with a knife, is stable.
