An unidentified person threw ink on Senior BJP leader and Maharashtra minister Chandrakant Patil at Pimpri-Chinchwad for his alleged remarks about Babasaheb Ambedkar and social reformer Mahatma Jyotiba Phule. This happened on Saturday. The police detained the identified man who was seen shouting slogans in the support of 2 social reformers. A video of the incident shows a man approaching Chandrakant Patil and throwing ink at his face as the minister exits a building. This video is going viral on the Internet.
Maharashtra cabinet minister Chandrakant Patil said he never criticised Dr BR Ambedkar and Mahatma Jyotiba Phule while using bheekh remarks for social reformers. Chandrakant Patil’ clarification came after the ink was thrown at BJP- Bharatiya Janata party leader in Pimpri Chinchwad city of Pune district over his comment on Babasaheb Ambedkar and Phule.
Patil added that he had used the word -bheek, which means beg, but that he did not mean to criticize either Ambedkar or Mahatma Jyotiba Phule. He explained that in rural areas, the word bheek is used to mean to plead or to request.
BJP leaders are condemning the ink attack.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the meaning of what Minister Patil had said should have been understood.
