We had already reported that Former Finance Minister P Chidambaram has been arrested by the CBI officials in the INX Media case on Wednesday.
Now, from the latest update, we hear that Chidambaram is likely to be taken to Byculla Jail in Mumbai for the face to face confrontation and confirmation with the former director of INX Media Indrani Mukerjea who is also facing charges of killing her daughter Sheena Bora.
In the interrogation of CBI during the last 24 hours, Chidambaram has reportedly denied recalling any meeting with Indrani Mukerjea in March-April 2007 over the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance to the foreign investment in INX Media. A senior from CBI has confirmed that “If required, the agency may also do a lie-detector test on the former minister after taking permission from the competent court”.
Indrani who is the INX’s former director has been the approver and mentioned in her statement that she and her spouse Peter Mukerjea had met the Chidambaram at his office in New Delhi’s North block then she said, “Peter had started the conversation with P Chidambaram referring to the application of INX Media for bringing in FDI and handed a copy of the application to the former finance minister”. To confirming this CBI will be taking Chidambaram to Byculla jail.
