Apple is going to introduce a new Covid-19 feature to unlock iPhones. The feature is available in beta iOS 15.4, that provides the facility to use Face ID to unlock the iPhone while wearing a mask. Already Apple already offers the unlock with Apple watch feature that allows iPhone users to unlock their phone with the help of an Apple watch.
Now, unlocking iPhones will become easier for the users without removing their masks. If the users wanted to use Face ID while wearing a mask, then they will have an option set up screen in BETA iOS 15.4. Users will not required to wear a mask during the set up. If they want to use the feature, they should rescan their face for Face ID.
According to the user’s choice, the beta also provides a new ‘Use Face ID with a mask’ toggle in the settings app that can be turned on/off. Moreover, there is also a new feature to Add Glasses to make Face ID more accurate for users who wear glasses.
One thing to remember, the feature is not available for iPhone 11 series, but it will be only available for iPhone 12 and iPhone 13. The ability to unlock iPhones while wearing a mask is one of the most requested features that become more essential in the present pandemic situations. The company initiated the ability with iOS 13.5 to detect whether a user is wearing a mask and quickly ask for the passcode instead of trying to recognise the face.
The initiation of the mask feature to the iPhones was not only requested by the iPhone users, but also requested by several organizations in the country.
