The sources say that the official of Income tax department conducted raid at the offices of CM Ramesh’s company Rithwik Projects Private Limited. The raids was started around 8 AM, and about 30 officials participated in them. They searched every room and went through the records.
CM Ramesh, a member of Rajya Sabha belonging to Andhra Pradesh’s ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP), was in Delhi at the time of the raids. He is close aide of Andhra Pradesh chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. He alleged that the tax raids were witch-hunting by the Centre for fighting against the injustice done to state and added that he would continue to raise his voice against the injustice.
CM Ramesh further said, “I have been targeted because I belong to the TDP (Telugu Desam Party). This is an attempt to intimidate everyone who is against Narendra Modi and BJP.
On the other side, TDP General Secretary and IT Minister Nara Lokesh said, “ it is a classic case of the political harassment, they are targeting only TDP leaders.”
In the past 10 days, there have been a series of IT raids on TDP (Telugu Desam Party leaders) . On 5th October, the IT raid was also conducted at the houses and offices of TDP leader and industrialist Beeda Masthan Rao in Andhra Pradesh.
Recently it was also heard that IT raids was conducted on Narayana group of educational institutions run by TDP leader and Andhra Pradesh minister K. Narayana. But he has denied the reports.
