It is known news that on 25th October, YSRC chief Jaganmohan Reddy was on his way to Hyderabad to attend a court trial when he was attacked by a rooster fight knife in the VIP lounge area of the Visakhapatnam airport.

The MHA’s Under Secretary to the Government of India Dharmender Kumar issued orders  and handed over the case to National Investigation Agency(NIA) on 31st December 2018. The NIA registered an FIR on 1st January 2019, under Section 307 of IPC and Section 3A (1)(a) of Suppression of Unlawful Acts Against Safety of Civil Aviation Act – 1982, and started the investigation into the sensational case of the attack against YSRCP Chief  Jaganmohan Reddy.

FIR  was registered on a complaint by an officer Dinesh Kumar of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

The Andhra Pradesh police earlier arrested one person, J. Srinivasa Rao, in connection with the attack. Jaganmohan Reddy was suffered injury to his left shoulder. The knife used in the attack was a cockfight knife. The attacker was a cook at the airport canteen.

On Wednesday Visakhapatnam City Police Commissioner Mahesh Chandra Laddha interacted with media and said, “Janepalli Srinivasa Rao, the prime accused in the Jaganmohan Reddy attack case, executed his own plan with an intention to create sensation and get wide publicity for himself. He attacked Jaganmohan Reddy after proper planning.” He further said, “ The accused Srinivas had planned to attack Jaganmohan Reddy since December 2017 and purchased two rooster knives from Ravulapalem in East Godavari district in January 2018.” He also added that there is no need of NIA probe into the attack as it is in no way linked to national security.
