Kollywood star Suriya starrer Jai Bhim is now in the legal trouble. The movie has landed into controversy again after a person alleged story theft.   According to the latest report, Chennai police registered an FIR against the director and producer of Jai Bhim under the Copyright act on Wednesday. The FIR was lodged by a guy who said that the makers have depicted his life’s struggle, and didn’t pay him royalties. 

Suriya starrer Jai Bhim sheds light on caste injustice and police brutality meted out to the members of the Irular tribe.  The movie is produced by Suriya and Jyotika’s 2D Productions, was hailed as one of the best films of 2021. The period drama directed by TJ Gnanavel and deals with police brutality and discrimination against a marginalised community in Tamil Nadu. The movie is loosely inspired by a true incident from 1993 when tribal individuals were arrested and tortured by cop.

Suriya played the role of  Advocate Chandru who was instrumental in getting them released. This isn’t the first legal controversy Jai Bhim has faced. Right after its arrival at the theaters, the film was dragged to court by Vanniyar Sangam, the parent body of Tamil Nadu-based political party PMK, for portraying Vanniyar community in a bad light.
