Notification of Home Ministry said that “In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (a) of section 2 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019 (34 of 2019), the Central Government hereby appoints the 31st day of October 2019, as the appointed day for the said Act”

Post abrogating Article 370, PM Modi has given nearly a 45 min brief to the people on it through the television telecast. He further declared that Jammu and Kashmir will not be Union Territory for a long time.

Modi said that according to the legislation the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir will be having the legislature like Puducherry whereas, Ladakh will be of Chandigarh Union Territory privileges. He said, “As Jammu and Kashmir will see more and more development, I do not think it will remain Union Territory for long. Ladakh will remain a Union Territory,”

It was known that Jammu and Kashmir will have the Lieutenant Governor. The actual strength of the assembly is 107 and it would be further enhanced to 114 posts the delimitation process. Few reports read, 24 seats will remain vacant as it falls under the category of LOC. 144 section has been removed in J &K now, however, silence prevails.
