Jiiva revealed that moulding his style into that of Krishnamachari Srikanth was a tough task for him. He took the help of veteran cricketer Balwanth Singh Sandhu who guided him. Singam Puli fame Jiiva added, “I breathed this character and lived the role, and playing him perfectly was a big deal for me.”

Earlier in an interview, Jiiva had said, “I feel proud and honoured to act as Krishnamachari Srikanth in ’83. In the history of Indian cricket, only a few players from Tamil Nadu are well known and the most important one among them is Krishnamachari Srikanth.”

83 is directed by Kabir Khan of Bajrangi Bhaijaan fame, and  is being jointly produced by Reliance Entertainment, Phantom Films, and Vibri Media. According to the makers, 83 will focus more on the cricket and how the team won the World Cup.
