With the influence of Bharatiya Janata Party in Guntur, Jinna Tower was painted in tricolour, which now represents our nation. The tower has been abutting with disputations for some time, with BJP laying claim to change its name.

In Spite of confining orders, the development comes after three people claiming to be from the Hindu Vahini organisation were obstructed on January 26 for exerting themselves to hoist the national flag at the tower.
Guntur East MLA Mustafa said that it was committed to decorate the tower with the tricolour on the solicitation of various groups. A pole will also be constructed to hoist the national flag near the tower on Thursday, and requisite groundwork has also been made to do so.The state unit of the BJP had demanded that the name of the tower be changed to honour former president Abdul Kalam. In fact, they also alarmed to wreck the monument if the YSRC government doesn’t consider their stipulations.
The Guntur East MLA criticized the BJP candidate for raising the issue. He said, BJP leaders should engage in aiding needy people against pandemic, in lieu of generating communal conflicts.
