Karate Kalyani, who has gained a good name as a character artist in Tollywood, often gets involved in controversies. Recently, her comments about late NTR’s statue landed her in the limelight. A huge statue of NTR is going to be unveiled in Khammam to celebrate NTR’s centenary. The idol of NTR was made in the form of Lord Krishna. Kalyani objected to this. She criticized the installation of an idol of NTR in the form of Lord Krishna. She asked why NTR is being made a god. These comments put her in trouble. The Movie Artistes Association- MAA expressed its anger against Kalyani. She was given a show cause notice to explain the controversial comments. However, as she did not give an explanation within the stipulated time, her membership was canceled from the association.
Karate Kalyani expressed grief over this. She said that she does not understand what she did wrong. She said that she was not against the statue of NTR but she was only against putting up an idol in the form of Krishna. She asked why there are no more gods if idols are placed in the form of gods for every hero.
She expressed her grief that she could not respond to the notices due to illness. Meanwhile, she was announced to be suspended. Karate Kalyani has been in the industry for 23 years. She said that even if her membership is cancelled, she will not leave the industry, she will stay here. She accused someone of conspiring against her.
