Siddaramaiah, who was elected as the leader of the Congress party’s legislative party after winning the Karnataka Assembly elections, was invited by Governor Thawarchand Gehlot to take oath as the Chief Minister. A letter was written to Siddaramaiah. The letter to Siddaramaiah stated that the oath taking ceremony will be held at Kanthirava Stadium at 12.30 pm on Saturday. DK Shivakumar will also take oath as Deputy CM in this program.
DK Sivakumar moved a motion to elect Siddaramaiah as the new leader of the Congress Legislature Party at the Congress Legislature Party meeting held in Bengaluru on Thursday evening. It was unanimously approved by all the members in the CLP meeting.
This resolution was handed over to the Governor by Siddaramaiah, DK Shivakumar and others. The Governor sent a letter back to Siddaramaiah. On the other hand, huge arrangements are being made at Kanthirava Stadium for the swearing-in ceremony. Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi will attend this ceremony. Along with them, Congress National President Mallikarjuna Kharge, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, National Conference Chief Farooq Abdullah and CPI leader Sitaram Yechury were also invited. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukh were among the invitees.
