Karthi is going to play the role of Politician YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, in YSR’s biopic titled “Yatra”, which is being directed by Mahi V Raghav. The film stars Malayalam superstar Mammootty in the title role and he will make his screen presence as legendary politician YS Rajasekhar Reddy. It is heard that initially the makers wanted to rope Karthi’s brother Suriya. Though he was very impressed but as he was no able to allot the dates because of his busy shoot schedule, he said no to the makers and suggested the name of his brother Karthi for this important role. Finally, the makers of Yatra brought Karthi on the board to play the role of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. An official announcement is expected to come out very soon. Karthi is well known actor in both Telugu speaking states- Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The sources say that when Karthi was in Hyderabad for the success meet of his recent offering ‘Chinna Babu’, the makers of Yatra met him and narrated the subject. Karthi has given green signal for the project. If everything will go accordingly, very soon Karthi will join the sets of ‘Yatra’ after the completion of ‘Chinna Babu’ promotions in Tamil Nadu.
It is known news that Posani Murali Krishna is playing YSR’s Personal Assistant Suryudu, Bhumika Chawala will be seen in the role of YS Sharmila. Jagapathi Babu is playing the role of YSR’s father YS Raja Reddy. Anasuya Bharadwaj is essaying a politician from the Kurnool district who played a key role during YSR’s regime in AP. Suhasini Maniratnam is playing Home Minister Sabita Indra Reddy whereas Rao Ramesh will be seen in the role of K.V.P.R amachandra Rao in Yatra, which is being bankrolled by Vijay Chilla and Shashi Devireddy under the banner of 70mm Entertainments. Yatra is slated to hit the theaters on the occasion of Sankranthi 2019.
