Senior IAS officer Shanti Kumari has been appointed as new Chief Secretary- CS of Telangana state. The State government has issued the orders appointing Shanti Kumari as the Chief Secretary CM KCR gave his consent for her appointment to the top bureaucratic post in Telangana State. The order was given a day after the Department of Personnel and Training relieved Somesh Kumar from the post. She assumed charge at BRK Bhavan yesterday. Shanti will hold the post till April 2025. Shanti Kumari, who previously held several key departments, also served as Medak Collector during the tenure of Chief Minister KCR as a minister in the joint AP. But there is an interesting debate on her selection as CS. There is a talk that there is a secret master plan of KCR behind the appointment of Shanti Kumar as the Chief Secretary of Telangana .
There is a talk in the political circle that CM KCR has selected Shanti Kumari as CS as part of that strategy. KCR, who entered into national politics by changing TRS to BRS, is looking to assert his power in the national politics. The party is planning to expand in all states and become an alternative to the BJP- Bharitya Janata Party. They are moving smartly for that. First, KCR, who is looking to expand BRS in neighboring states, focused on Telugu state of AP. Thota Chandrasekhar, who belongs to strong Kapu Samajili group, has already been invited into the party and given the responsibility of AP president.
The former minister Ravela Kishore Babu and Parthasaradhi were also included in the party. A huge public meeting is being planned in Andhra Pradesh soon. KCR is eager to show his power in Andhra Pradesh in the next election. It seems that KCR showed favor towards Shanti Kumari as CS as a part of that because her hometown is Krishna district of AP. She also belongs to Kapu.
A 1989 batch officer, Ms. Shanti Kumari will be the first woman to take up the top post in the new State.
