After giving a big blow to the RTC staff by sacking 48,140, who refused to resume the services from their protest, before the given deadline, KCR has sent another big jolt to RTC now. On getting to the details it was known that K Chandrasekhar Rao has concluded to privatize half of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation.
It was also known that KCR has decided to allow the private owners to run the buses under the corporation to make it sustain and at least make some profits from it. The decision was taken by the Telangana CM KCR, post reviewing the report scrutinized by the principal secretary of Transport. KCR has also added saying that the state government has no intention to privatize the RTC but it just wants to strengthen it.
Per the latest statistical data, RTC has the bold strength of 10,400 buses in which corporations will own 5,200 buses under the banner of RTC but headed by the corporation. On the other hand, the statement reads, a 30 percent which means of 3,100 buses of RTC fleet are already under hire and as a privilege, the government has also supported these buses to use of the infrastructure like regular RTC parking area.
