KCR to bid for Vizag Steel Plant

Recently BRS Working President, Telangana Minister KTR wrote a letter to the Center not to privatize Visakha Steel Plant. Andhra Pradesh BJP leaders also gave a counter on this letter.  Telangana CM KCR has decided to participate in Visakha Steel Plant Bidding.

BRS has been vocal in its opposition to the privatisation of Public Sector Undertakings by PM Narendra Modiled government, particularly the proposed privatisation of VSP in the neighbouring State of Andhra Pradesh.

On 27th March, Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited invited tenders from private and other steel related sector companies for capital and raw materials required for Visakhapatnam steel industry. However, Minister KTR has recently written an open letter that the Center is conspiring to build steel plants for private companies in the form of an initial request and expression of interest for final privatization by offering steel plants to pro-BJP corporate companies. Visakha factory unions and workers responded positively to this. BRS AP president Thota Chandrasekhar was met by the leaders of steel plant unions. They discussed ways to temporarily block the privatization of steel plants.

It seems that Thota Chandrasekhar has brought to the attention of Chief Minister KCR and Minister KTR the ways to block the privatization of steel plant.  The sources revealed that CM KCR discussed this with the officials on Sunday.  Telangana government has decided to participate in the bidding for Vizag Steel Plant. If the Telangana government wins the tenders for the Visakhapatnam steel plant, KCR believes that apart from expressing BRS’s opposition to the sale of public sector enterprises, there will be an opportunity for the party to expand in AP.
