As Rohit Sharma was ruled out of the tour with a hamstring injury, KL Rahul took the responsibility as a captain for Team India for their oncoming ODI series against South Africa. The first match of the three-match ODI series will be held in Paarl tomorrow. KL Rahul has batted for India in various positions in the middle order with Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan opening the batting.

Rahul said that he had batted at 4 or 5 different positions in the previous 14-15 months, while the team needed him. As Rohit did not present then, he would bat at the top. And he explained that he was not someone who had a lot of plans and aims. He liked to take one game at a time. That’s what he performed his cricket and that’s how he looks to lead the team.

Since Dhawan was not selected in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup last year, Rahul has replaced him as a regular Opener for team India in T20Is. It is now a suspense that whether Shikhar Dhawan or Ruturaj Gaikwad will become an opening partner for Rahul in the ODI series. Reportedly, Rahul said that he had learnt a lot from MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli and he had been exhibiting all his efforts on what he learned.

In the vacation of Kohli, Rahul captained India in the Second Test against South Africa, and he had been recognised as one of the frontrunners for the position. And he has given his ultimatum that he will get better from his mistakes made by him in his cricket career by correcting them immediately from the time he got realized.
