KTR: 14 days jail for an ‘offensive’ tweet, horrible insults

Kannada actor Chetan Kumar, popularly known as Chetan Ahimsa, has been arrested by the  Bengaluru police after his tweet on Hindutva went viral on the social media. The complaint against him stated that his tweet, which says that “Hindutva is built on lies”, hurt sentiments of Hindus. The court ordered Chetan to be in custody for 14 days. Telangana Minister KTR responded regarding anti-government posts on the  social media. The minister KTR once again warned that action will be taken if posts are made to insult the government, the chief minister and public representatives. He said that freedom of expression does not mean derogatory speech and posting on social media. It has been decided that strict action will be taken if posts are made to insult the Chief Minister. Minister KTR was furious over BJP leaders expressing concern in this regard.

KTR tweeted: In BJP ruled Karnataka 14 days jail for an ‘offensive’ tweet In Telangana, we’ve been tolerating direct & horrible insults to our CM, Ministers and Legislators May be we need to give them back in same coin, what say people? Right to Freedom of expression is not Right to Abuse.

KTR said that in BJP ruled Karnataka, if you put up posts against the government, you will be jailed for the fourteen days. He said that only if we implement it in our Telangana in the same way, they will know. People were asked to share this matter on Twitter and give their opinion.

KTR attached the video of Kannada actor Chetan’s arrest to the tweet. KTR commented that even in Telangana, those who made objectionable comments and tweets should be sent to jail.
