Mortal remains of Lata Mangeshkar to be taken to Shivaji Park for last respects. Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar passed away on Sunday at the age of 92 years. The singer had been admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital on 8th January after she was diagnosed with the novel Coronavirus and pneumonia. Mortal remains of Lata Mangeshkar to be taken to her residence around 12:30 pm and the last rites with full State honours will be conducted at Shivaji Park at 6.30 pm today.
Former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar arrived at Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital, where Lata Mangeshkar breathed her last on Sunday morning.
Dr Pratit Samdani who was treating the singer, said today, “It is with profound grief that we announce the sad demise of Lata Mangeshkar at 8:12 am. The singer ha d
ied because of multi-organ failure after more than 28 days of hospitalisation post-COVID-19.
From India’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Yogi Adityanath, Rahul Gandhi, Nitin Gadkari, LK Advani and many Bollywood stars including Akshay Kumar, National award winning actress Kangana Ranaut, Sonu Sood, Dia Mirza among others mourned her demise.
Amit Shah said,”The Singer Lata Mangeshkar Ji dedicated her life to music. Her voice was the god gifted just like a child’s smile or sunrise that does not have any religion. I had a close connection with her, she supported me in my difficult times. The void left by her is impossible to fill.”
