Indias most loved singer Lata Mangeshkar, who had once moved Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to tears, passed away today. Lata Mangeshkar who is known as the nations Melody Queen, left everyone teary eyed. She died at 92. She breathed her last at 8:12 am on Sunday in Mumbais Breach Candy Hospital.
Lata Mangeshkar, had tested positive for the Coronavirus with mild symptoms on 8th January and she was undergoing treatment at the hospital. The popular singer was admitted to the ICU of Breach Candy hospital, where she was being treated by Dr. Pratit Samdani and his team of doctors. She was showing improvement until last week but her health deteriorated and she was put back on ventilator support yesterday morning. She was also being treated for pneumonia. She recovered from COVID-19 and pneumonia on 30th January. But today morning she breathed her last.
Lata Mangeshkar began her career at the age of 13 in 1942 and had sung over 30,000 songs in several Indian languages in over seven decade-long career.
Her first breakthrough song, Dil Mera Toda, was for Majboor in 1948. In the following year, 1949, she garnered massive popularity with the track Aayega Aanewaala from Madhubala starrer blockbuster movie Mahal. She is known for crooning the songs- Ajeeb Dastan Hai Ye, Jab Pyar Kiya Toh Darna Kya, Lag Jaa Gale, Ek Pyar Ka Nagma Hai, Tune O Rangeele, Aye Mere Wattan Ke Logo, Bheegi Bheegi Raaton Mein, Tere Bina Zindagi Se Koi Shikwa To Nahin, Maye Ni Maye, Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye, Tere Liye, and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
