Jagapathi Babu, the versatile actor, who has been the part of several Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam movies, is making his Bollywood debut with an upcoming drama Tanaji. The Telugu actor whose 25-year stint at the movies has spawned 120 films, 4 Filmfare awards and 7 state Nandi Awards, is going to test his luck in Hindi Film Industry with Ajay Devgn starrer upcoming historical-drama, Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior. On Monday, Jagapathi Babu was spotted at a suburban studio in this costume. The pic of Jagapathi Babu is going viral on social media. The team of Tanaji has kicked off the first round of photoshoots and screen tests around noon. The regular shoot will be started from 25th September.
On 20th July, Ajay Devgn announced the project and wrote on his Twitter, “He fought for his People, his Soil & his King Chhatrapati Shivaji. The unsung warrior of glorious Indian history, Subedar Taanaji Malusare.” Bollywood star Ajay Devegn will reprise the role of Tanaji Malusare.
The story revolves around the life of Tanaji Malusare, a Koli military leader in Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s army. Director Om Raut is going to direct the movie and Tanaji’s heroic fight in the Battle of Sinhagad in 1670 AD. The makers have already locked the release date of Tanaji and it will be arrived at the theatres on 25th September 2019.
Having started his career playing lead roles in hit Telugu films like Peddarikam Maavichiguru, Subhakankshalu, Pelli Pandiri, , Gaayam, Subha Lagnam, Manoharam and Kabbadi Kabbadi among others, Jagapathi Babu played his first negative role in Nandamuri Balakrishna’s blockbuster Legend in 2014 and followed it up with Rajinikanth starrer Lingaa and Jr NTR starrer Naanaku Prematho.
Meanwhile Jagapathi Babu is busy in his upcoming projects- Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava, Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy and Madhuraraja, which are in different production stages.
